Tata Electronics partners with ASMPT Singapore to boost Semiconductor Ecosystem in India

Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of Tata Sons Pvt. Ltd., has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ASMPT Singapore to develop semiconductor assembly equipment infrastructure and solutions.

This collaboration aims to support Tata Electronics’ semiconductor assembly and testing facilities in Vemagal, Karnataka, and Jagiroad, Assam.

Focus Areas of the Partnership

The partnership will focus on workforce training, improving service engineering infrastructure, enhancing automation, and providing support for spare parts.

It will also advance research and development in wirebond, flip chip, advanced packaging, and integrated system packaging. Additionally, the collaboration will promote energy and material efficiency to encourage sustainable growth and strengthen the semiconductor supply chain.

New Facilities and Investment

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated two new Tata Electronics facilities: a semiconductor fab in Dholera, Gujarat, and an OSAT (Semiconductor Assembly and Test) Facility in Jagiroad, Assam.

Tata Electronics has committed an investment of Rs. 1,18,000 crores, which is expected to create around 50,000 direct and indirect jobs. This initiative was driven by Chairman N. Chandrasekaran’s vision and dedication, which aims to transform both the business and the community.

ASMPT’s R&D Commitment

ASMPT’s ongoing investment in R&D is expected to deliver cost-effective, innovative solutions that enhance productivity, reliability, and quality, supporting a sustainable future for customers, employees, investors, partners, and society.

Speaking about the partnership, Dr. Randhir Thakur, Managing Director & CEO of Tata Electronics, stated,
