MG Windsor Electric CUV with up to 331km range launched in India starting at Rs. 9.99 lakh and Pay-Per-KM battery plan


MG Motor India has announced the launch of the Windsor, positioned as India’s first-ever CUV, combining the practicality of an SUV with the comfort of a sedan. Built on the ‘Pure EV Platform,’ the Windsor aims to offer a balanced driving experience.

The MG Windsor EV features a minimalist crossover design with connected LED DRLs, LED tail lights, headlights integrated into the bumper, and the MG logo positioned below the DRL strip. It is equipped with 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, flush door handles, and a charging flap on the front left fender.

The interior, inspired by the luxury of Windsor Castle, offers a “business class” experience with up to 1,707 liters of storage, a 2,700 mm wheelbase, and Aero-Lounge seats that recline up to 135 degrees. The vehicle measures 4,295 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, 1,652 mm in height, and has a 604-liter boot.

Inside, the MG Windsor EV includes ‘Italian Bubble-Style’ leatherette seats, a panoramic glass roof, a 15.6-inch TFT infotainment screen, and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster.

Additional features include wireless charging, ambient lighting, automatic climate control, a 9-speaker Infinity audio system, keyless entry, push-button start, and multiple safety features such as six airbags, an electronic parking brake, TPMS, and ESC.

Powered by a 30.8 kWh battery, the Windsor EV offers a claimed range of 331 km per charge, with a single electric motor delivering 136 bhp and 200 Nm of torque.

It is equipped with an IP67-certified PMS motor, a 38 kWh battery, four driving modes (Eco+, Eco, Normal, Sport), and supports DC fast charging to 80% in 40 minutes. Other charging options include a 3.3 kW AC charger (13.8 hours), a 7.4 kW AC fast charger (6.5 hours), and a 50 kW DC fast charger (55 minutes).

Variants and Features
  • Windsor EV Excite: Features six airbags, Aero-Lounge seats with a 135° recline, a 10.1-inch infotainment display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, electronic stability control, and an electric parking brake.
  • Windsor EV Exclusive: Includes a 15.6-inch touchscreen, over 80 i-Smart connected features, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, a 360° camera, and smart flush door handles.
  • Windsor EV Essence: Comes with an Infinity View glass roof, a 9-speaker audio system by Infinity, 256-color ambient lighting, ventilated front seats, and a PM2.5 filter.

The top-spec Windsor variant offers additional features such as wireless phone mirroring, a 360-degree camera, climate control with rear AC vents, a panoramic sunroof with voice control, Jio apps and connectivity, ABS with EBD, and a full LED light package. The interior also includes USB charging ports, rear AC vents, and optional seatback screens.

Pricing and Availability

The Windsor EV is priced starting from Rs. 9.99 lakh and offers a “Battery as a Service” plan at Rs. 3.5 per km. Customers will have to recharge the battery pack for a minimum of 1,500 km, which costs Rs 5,250. It is available in four colors: Starburst Black, Pearl White, Clay Beige, and Turquoise Green.

MG provides a 3-60 buyback plan, ensuring a 60% value retention after 3 years or 45,000 km, along with a lifetime battery warranty for first owners and one year of free public charging.
