Infinix Zero 40 5G Unboxing and First Impressions

Infinix launched the Zero 40 5G, the company’s latest 5G smartphone in India earlier this week. Here we have the unboxing and the first impressions of the feature-packed smartphone.

The phone has a 6.78-inch (1080 x 2400 pixels) FHD+ AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and 360Hz Touch Sampling Rate. The screen is bright since it has up to 1300 nits peak brightness, up from 950 nits in the predecessor. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

There is a 50MP autofocus front camera inside the tiny notch, and it supports 4K 60 fps video recording. The earpiece is present on the top edge, which doubles as a secondary speaker. You can see the dual LED flash on the bezel.

The phone has an in-display fingerprint scanner which is quick to unlock the phone. The phone runs Android 14 with XOS 14.5 on top, and the company has promised 2 Android OS update and 3 years of security updates for the phone, more than the previous model.

Under the hood, the Zero 40 5G is powered by the Dimensity 8200 Ultimate chipset, making it one of the few phones with the chip in the price range. It has support for 14 5G bands, has 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB / 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage.

Coming to button placements, the power button is present on the right along with volume rockers. The Dual SIM slot is present on the bottom along with the primary microphone, USB Type-C port and the loudspeaker grill. The secondary microphone, IR blaster and vent for speaker are present on the top. You can also see the Sound by JBL branding. The phone doesn’t have a microSD slot or a 3.5mm audio jack.

The phone has triple rear cameras that include a 108MP main camera with Smausng HM6 sensor, OIS, 50MP ultra-wide camera with macro option and a 2MP depth sensor. It supports 4K video recording at 60fps from the rear camera as well.

The GoPro mode enables integration with GoPro cameras for viewing and controlling shooting modes, with the GoPro Quik app pre-installed. It also includes AI enhancements for photography, such as ProStable video, RAW HDR, and various shooting modes.

This doesn’t have a glass or vegan leather back like the Zero 30 5G, instead there is a plastic back, but the matte finish offers a premium look and doesn’t attract fingerprints. It has IP54 ratings for dust and splash resistance.

The phone has a 5,000mAh battery with 45W wired charging, and also supports up to 20W wireless charging as well as 10W reverse wireless charging.

The Infinix Zero 30 5G starts at Rs. 27,999. With the Rs. 3000 bank offer, the effective price is Rs. 24,999. It will be available from tomrorow, September 21st from 7PM from Flipkart.
