Sony has introduced Lytia LYT-818, the company’s next top-end smartphone sensor in the LYT-800 series, after it introduced the LYT-808 last year.
The 1/1.28-inch 50MP sensor suitable for the main and secondary cameras of smartphones significantly reduces noise in low-light conditions, and a wide dynamic range, says the company.
It features low noise, HDR functions, and a newly developed innovative circuit that efficiently converts the charge generated by the photodiode into voltage. This reduces the generation of random noise and achieves a leading RN performance of 0.95e- among SSS’s mobile phone CMOS image sensors.
Additionally, the LYT-818 is equipped with a new HDR function that can read the charge accumulated in a single exposure at three different gain settings and synthesize this data to achieve a dynamic range of 86dB. This effectively reduces overexposure and underexposure in high-contrast shooting scenes.
The sensor also has reduced power consumption and enables continuous HDR function, allowing users to preview the HDR effect directly on the smartphone screen.
vivo X200 Pro / X200 Pro mini with LYT-818?
Sony said that it will roll out the LYT-818 sensor to OEMs starting from this September. According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the vivo X200 Pro / X200 Pro mini smartphones will be the first to use sensor, and the phone is expected on October 14th.
The vivo X100 Pro used a 1″ Sony IMX989 sensor and the X100 used a 1/ 1.49″ Sony IMX920 sensor. The X200 Pro is also said to use Samsung JN1 and IMX882 camera sensors for other cameras, based on the software, and the series is also said to feature telephoto macro support.
