Design and build
Starting with the design, the charging station has a small squarish design, and has branding on the top. It has a plastic build and measures 102.5 x 93 x 44.5mm and weighs 655 grams. It has a transparent design on the front and polycarbonate body that is coated with UV nano material, resistant to dirt and wear.
The build quality is good, and it has a transparent design, so the chip is clearly visible. On the front are three USB Type-C ports (C1, C2 and C3) and one USB Type-A port (A1).
You can see small bushes on the bottom that prevents the charger from getting scratched.
It even has a 1.3-inch TFT screen that displays voltage, power, and modes. The screen brightness automatically adjusts according to the surrounding environment, so it is not intrusive during the night. You can press the button to switch between modes. You can also double-click the button to turn off the screen.
The back has an input port that takes in AC 110V-240V~50/60Hz / 2.5A. There are also specifications of the Input and output ports, so the total output is 218W.
Performance
The Type C Ports are PD 3.0 enabled to deliver up to 100W of power that lets you charge MacBooks, Surface tablets, and other laptops that charge over Type-C. This also supports 100W Type-C PD (PPS – Programmable Power Supply support) for laptops and tablets, as well as iPads. You can also charge Samsung phones that support up to 45W PPS Fast charging, and iPhones with up to 30W fast charging.
To put the charger to test, we connected the MacBook Pro, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, CMF Phone 1 and a TWS earbuds, and all the devices were charging simultaneously.
The MacBook Pro was able to reach up to 90W, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra showed 45W PPS, and it showed Super Fast Charging 2.0.
We also tried the Lenovo Legion Go, which supports up to 100W fast charging, and we were able to charge it at up to 92W. When using HONOR 200 Pro, it was able to charge at up to 66W, and it showed HONOR Super Charging (Max 66W). For vivo V40e, which support 80W Flash charge, it offered 44W fast charging. Since all the devices shows their official charging tag, the charger supports all these standards.
However, there is no support for OnePlus / OPPO / realme’s VOOC or Super VOOC fast charging from both Type-C and Type-A ports, so we were able to charge at up to 13W maximum, and it just showed fast charging.
The charger has multiple safety protection including over-voltage, over-current, over-power, short circuit, and over-temperature protection. Since it uses GaN technology, the overall energy and efficiency is better, and has a smaller size for a charger with support for up to 218W fast charging.
It also doesn’t have any heating issues. The company said that it uses AI technology for temperature control, conducting 40 temperature measurements per second and 3 million real-time detections daily, ensuring lower temperatures and safer fast charging.
Conclusion
The ACEFAST 218W Desktop Charging Station Z4 is a good product to own if you’re someone who need to charge multiple devices like laptops, tablets and phones simultaneously. Since it has 100W Power Delivery output from a single port, it can charge most USB-C laptops, including MacBooks at their max charging speed, it is useful.
There is also Super Fast PPS charging for Samsung smartphones, and the QC 3.0 to charge other phones. There are some models in the market with USB Type-C + Type-A ports, but it is rare to find chargers like this that have four ports that can support 100W fast charging from two Type-C ports, simultaneously.
The charger has not been launched in India officially, but you can get it from Acefast Mall (US Plug) for Rs. 6,500 as a part of offer, and it is also available from Amazon.com (Europe Plug) for USD 89.99 (Rs. 7,540 approx.).
