Qualcomm has confirmed a joint announcement with Xiaomi at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024 on October 16th to introduce a new Redmi 5G smartphone powered by Snapdragon SoC.
Xiaomi’s new smartphone, powered by snapdragon, will bring 5G connectivity to millions of Indians, said the company. The company is expected to introduce Snapdragon 4s Gen 2-powered budget Redmi 5G smartphone at the event.
The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip uses the same 4nm processing node as the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, offers support for up to 90fps FHD+ displays compared, has dual 12-bit ISP camera support, packs a powerful modem for Gigabit 5G connectivity, and supports Dual-frequency GNSS (L1 + L5), including NAVIC.
Qualcomm already confirmed that the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip will power sub USD 100 (Rs. 8,375 approx.) when it launches in Q4 2024, so we can expect the Redmi 5G smartphone to be priced under Rs. 10,000, undercutting the price of the Redmi 13C 5G which was launched last year starting at Rs. 10,999.
