Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) today introduced a new logo, which reflects its unwavering mission of “Connecting Bharat – Securely, Affordably, and Reliably.”
At the event in New Delhi, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also launched seven new BSNL services, including spam-free network, Wi-Fi roaming, and direct-to-device connectivity.
New BSNL services
BSNL has partnered with CDAC to roll out low-latency 5G connectivity for mining operations, a significant step towards India’s technological self-reliance. The initiative leverages Made in India equipment, demonstrating the country’s progress in the telecom sector.
Beyond 5G, BSNL has developed its own 4G telecom stack, paving the way for a smooth transition to 5G. The company has also introduced innovative features to enhance user experience and security. One such feature is a built-in spam blocker that automatically detects and filters out phishing attempts and malicious SMS.
Additionally, BSNL introduced Wi-Fi roaming, allowing subscribers to seamlessly connect to any BSNL FTTH Wi-Fi network while traveling. Furthermore, FTTH users gained access to over 500 premium TV channels through the company’s fiber-based intranet live TV service
To improve accessibility and convenience, BSNL has launched automated SIM kiosks that allow users to purchase, upgrade, port, or replace SIM cards 24×7. These kiosks support digital payments and offer seamless KYC integration, making it easy for users from all regions to access services.
Satellite-to-device connectivity
In a major technological breakthrough, BSNL introduced India’s first satellite-to-device connectivity solution for SMS services, which works on land, air, and sea.
This innovative technology combines satellite and terrestrial mobile networks to ensure reliable communication, especially in emergency situations and remote areas. The solution even enables UPI payments in areas with limited network coverage. BSNL also unveiled a unified network solution for disaster management.
At the event, Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, said:
BSNL has been a flagship enterprise of the government, representing the aspirations, dreams, and expectations of every single citizen of our country. The new logo of BSNL symbolizes strength, trust, and accessibility.
Since the beginning of the rollout of 4G, the subscribers of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) have increased from 75 lakh to 1.8 crore in the last 6 months. India is among the six countries in the world to develop its own 4G telecom network, which will soon migrate to 5G.
BSNL aims to be at the forefront of technological innovation. BSNL will establish 100,000 4G sites by mid-2025, and has plans to upgrade in the future. Our hope is that BSNL will always be at the forefront of tech innovation.
