Airtel has partnered with the Indian Army in a groundbreaking initiative to bring its 4G network to some of the most remote and challenging terrains in the world.
This includes Galwan and Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO), the northernmost military outpost located in the border town, at a staggering 16,700 feet above sea level. Airtel is now the only private telecom provider offering services in these strategically crucial locations.
To achieve this feat, Airtel has installed 17 mobile towers across the treacherous terrains of Kargil, Siachen, Galwan, Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO), and the Changthang regions. This endeavor, executed in collaboration with the Leh Signalers, brings essential connectivity to remote villages in Ladakh, bridging the digital divide and empowering residents with access to information and communication services.
This expansion not only strengthens communication networks in strategically vital areas but also contributes to the socio-economic development of these remote regions.
Both Galwan and Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO) are situated in the Ladakh region, on the Indo-China border at the northeastern edge of the Karakoram Range. By providing access to essential services like education, healthcare, and financial inclusion, Airtel’s initiative is playing a crucial role in improving the lives of people living in these challenging environments.
