Vi has launched its 4G network in Lakshadweep, marking a significant step in improving connectivity for residents, businesses, and tourists. The company has deployed its GIGAnet network in Agatti and Kavaratti, the most populated and visited islands in Lakshadweep, using the efficient 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, and 2100 MHz spectrum bands.
This initiative aims to connect the over 20,000 residents and numerous visitors to the islands. Vi’s nationwide network expansion and enhancement efforts include the launch of Vi GIGAnet in Lakshadweep.
Following a successful FPO in April, Vi is extending its reach into new areas, building capacity on existing sites, and upgrading its network infrastructure to elevate the customer experience.
R S Shantaram, Cluster Business Head, Kerala & Tamil Nadu, Vodafone Idea, said:
The launch of Vi GIGAnet in Lakshadweep is an important step in enhancing 4G coverage in the remote areas of India. The relationship between Lakshadweep & Kerala is characterized by geographical closeness, as Kerala is the nearest and most accessible mainland in addition to cultural similarities, economic interdependence, and administrative ties. Being Kerala’s No. 1 Mobile network, the launch of Vi GIGAnet in Lakshadweep will not only enhance communication but also open up new opportunities for education, business, and growth.
