Chrome for iOS gets smarter with Google Lens and Shopping Insights

Google has introduced a new update to its Chrome browser on iOS and iPadOS, offering 4 new features for a seamless browsing experience. The update enhances Google Lens searching, lets users directly download files to the cloud, shows shopping insights, and more.

Chrome lets users upload and search an image with its built-in Google Lens functionality. With this latest update, the company is adding the ability to add text, which allows you to perform more complex and specific searches based on the image.

Secondly, you can now save content from the web directly to your Google Drive/Photos by tapping the Google Drive option when saving the file. Saved files will be available in a new Drive folder called “Saved from Chrome.”

In addition to these two features, Chrome is rolling out a feature called ‘Shopping Insights’ that helps you find a product’s price history and will notify you if it’s a good deal in the address bar itself. The feature works only if you’ve enabled the “Make Searches and Browsing Better” setting. It is exclusive to the US as of now and should roll out to more regions soon.

Google also announced an experimental feature that lets users view a map of an address with a single tap. When you’re on a website and see an address for a specific location, simply tap the underlined address to view a mini-map of the location directly in Chrome.

Make sure to update the Chrome app via the App Store to the latest version to enjoy these new features.
