Sony IMX925, IMX935, IMX926, and IMX936 Image Sensors with Pregius S Global Shutter Technology announced

Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation (SSS) today announced the upcoming release of the IMX925 stacked CMOS image sensor, featuring a back-illuminated pixel structure and global shutter technology. Designed for industrial imaging, the new sensor offers 394 fps high-speed processing and a 24.55 effective megapixel count.

Pregius S global shutter technology

The IMX925 integrates Pregius S global shutter technology, providing a compact design with minimal noise and superior image quality. It also features a new circuit structure that optimizes pixel reading and sensor drive in the A/D converter.

This results in processing speeds that are approximately four times faster and twice as energy-efficient compared to previous models, such as SSS’s IMX530.

Along with the IMX925, SSS will launch additional models with varying sensor sizes and frame rates. These will enhance recognition and inspection tasks in industrial equipment, improving productivity in industries where fast, high-quality imaging is increasingly required.

  • Global shutter with proprietary pixel structure: The Pregius S global shutter ensures high-definition, distortion-free imaging of fast-moving objects. The back-illuminated pixel structure provides high sensitivity and saturation with 2.74 µm pixels.
  • Higher data transmission: The sensors use SSS’s SLVS-EC interface, supporting up to 12.5 Gbps per lane. This enhances camera precision and speed with fewer data lanes and expanded FPGA options.

Availability

The IMX925, IMX935, IMX926, and IMX936 image sensors are expected to begin sample shipments in May 2025.
