Ather Energy has introduced the new Eight70 battery warranty plan in India, offering 8 years or 80,000 km coverage (whichever comes first) for the battery.
This plan also guarantees a minimum of 70% battery health during the warranty period, aligning with the company’s philosophy of “Naam ki nahin, Kaam ki Warranty” – meaning the warranty focuses on performance, not just the name.
Ather’s Explanation of “Kaam ki Warranty”
- Range: The battery maintains its longevity, ensuring a consistent and reliable range over time.
- Top Speed: The top speed remains unaffected, with no compromise on performance.
- Acceleration: The acceleration continues to be as responsive as it was on day one.
- Gradeability: The battery ensures consistent high performance on steep inclines, even after years of use.
Key Highlights of the Eight70 Warranty
- Comprehensive Coverage: Covers all battery defects, including cell, electrical, electronic, and BMS-related issues. Includes protection against deep discharge, even if the battery is left idle or uncharged for an extended period.
- Performance Assurance: Ensures no drop in range, top speed, acceleration, or hill-climbing ability over time. Maintains battery performance comparable to its original state throughout the warranty period.
- Unlimited Claims: No cap on claim amounts, ensuring a hassle-free experience for users.
- Industry-First Features: Guarantees battery health above 70% until the 8th year, or the battery will be replaced. Covers degradation, a first in the EV industry.
What’s Not Covered
- Negligence-related damages: Excludes cases of theft, abuse, accidents, flooding, fire, or physical wear and tear.
- Unauthorized modifications: Any alterations to the battery or tampering with VIN/BIN will void the warranty.
Pricing and Availability
The Eight70 warranty is available as an add-on purchase for Rs. 4,999 (including GST) and applies to the batteries of Ather’s Rizta and 450X scooters. It is included with the Ather Pro pack and can be purchased within 90 days of vehicle invoicing at any Ather Experience Center.
Standard Warranty with Pro Pack:
- 5 years or 60,000 km, whichever comes first.
- Battery health guaranteed at 70%.
Eight70 Extended Warranty (Add-on):
- 8 years or 80,000 km, whichever comes first.
- Available for Rs. 4,999 for Pro pack users.
