Xiaomi just announced the REDMI K80 and K80 Pro smartphones at an event in China, as it had promised. The phones feature a 6.67-inch 2K AMOLED flat screen jointly developed with TCL featuring new M9 luminescent material offering peak brightness of up to 3200 nits, 120Hz refresh rate.
It has support for HDR10+, Dolby Vision, full brightness DC dimming, 2560Hz instantaneous touch sampling rate and 12-bit 68.7 billion colors. The K80 Pro has an ultra-narrow bottom frame, 21% narrower than the previous generation. The phones feature ultrasonic fingerprint for the first time.
The REDMI K80 Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC with D1 gaming chip, upgraded Circular cold pump cooling system Vapor-liquid separation design, efficient temperature control. It has 5400mm² large cooling area, has up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. There is T1S signal enhancement chip for the first time, upgraded Xiaomi Xingchen Communication with 19 5G frequency bands for a strong signal.
The phone has triple rear cameras with a 50MP 1/1.55″ Light Fusion 800 sensor with OIS, Xiaomi AISP 2.0, 13.2EV movie-level high dynamic range, 32MP ultra-wide camera and a 50MP 2.5x telephoto camera with 10cm macro option. The phone has IP68 + IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.
Both the phones feature a glass back and a metal frame. The K80 Pro has a 6000mAh silicon-carbon battery with support for 120W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
There is also a REDMI K80 Pro ‘Automobili Lamborghini SQUADRA CORSE’ that has a custom design, two colours and a customized gift box. This comes only in 16GB + 1TB version.
The REDMI K80 gets a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, has up to 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and up to 1TB UFS 4.0 storage. This has the same main camera with OIS, but has an 8MP ultra-wide camera and doesn’t have a telephoto camera. It has the same design, a bigger, 6550mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W fast charging, but lacks wireless charging.
