After the Xiaomi XU7 series, the company’s first set of electric cars which started rolling out earlier this year, Lei Jun has posted images of the company’s new electric car YU7 officially. This SUV has a similar design and will use the same platform as Xiaomi SU7.
This comes after the details of the YU7 showed up in Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s official website. The site revealed the car’s length of 4999mm, a width of 1996mm, a height of 1600mm, a wheelbase of 3000mm, a curb weight of 2405kg, and a total weight of 2855kg. The tires are available in three specifications: 245/55R19, 245/50 R20, front 245/45 R21 and rear 275/40 R21.
The car’s profile presents a dynamic blend of sportiness and ruggedness. A gently sloping roofline adds a touch of sleekness, while the segmented waistline creates a sense of depth and visual interest.
Aerodynamic performance is enhanced by guide grooves sculpted into the front fenders. Flush pop-up door handles contribute to the car’s clean lines. Finally, a robust touch is added by the black trim that accentuates the wheel arches and side skirts, giving the car a hint of crossover flair.
The car will feature a dual-motor system by Suzhou Huichuan United Power System Co., Ltd. The maximum power of the front motor is 220kW, and the maximum power of the rear motor is 288kW, slightly better than the 275kW in the SU7 Max model. It is equipped with a ternary lithium-ion battery pack, but the capacity is not revealed.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun said that the company is currently conducting large-scale road tests to fix any issues as soon as possible to ensure product quality and make better products, and is looking to officially launch it in June or July 2025. This is also when Xiaomi’s second phase of EV factory will enter into production.
