Samsung Semiconductor India Research (SSIR), in collaboration with the International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) and VLSI System Design, has launched an innovative CSR initiative, the “Chip Design for High School” program.
This program aims to nurture young talent and equip them with the essential skills required to drive India’s future in the semiconductor industry.
Targeting students from 6th to 12th grade, the program is designed to bridge the gap between academia and industry. By introducing fundamental concepts of semiconductor design, AI integration, and hands-on learning, the initiative seeks to inspire the next generation of engineers and innovators.
Key Features of the Program:
- Comprehensive Curriculum: The program covers a wide range of topics, including fundamental physics, logic gates, and breadboard circuit building.
- Hands-on Learning: Practical labs and capstone projects provide students with real-world experience in chip design.
- Industry-Relevant Skills: Students will gain expertise in digital logic design, System-on-Chip (SoC) concepts, and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools.
- Future-Ready Talent: The program aims to build a skilled workforce capable of driving India’s technological advancements in the semiconductor industry.
By the end of the program, students will have a solid understanding of semiconductor design principles and the ability to apply them to real-world projects. This initiative is a significant step towards fostering a vibrant semiconductor ecosystem in India and empowering young minds to shape the future of technology.
Commenting on the program, Balajee Sowrirajan, EVP and MD, Samsung Semiconductor India Research, said:
This is the right opportunity to enable our country to leap towards greater innovations in the semiconductor space. This programme is launched to make an impact on the talented youth of our country and make them future-ready through mentorship and hands-on experience. Our aim is to inspire and empower them as they prepare to lead the country as future leaders.
Prof. Debabrata Das, Director of IIIT-Bangalore, said:
