Bharti Airtel has partnered with the Indian Army to extend mobile network coverage to remote villages in the Kupwara, Baramulla, and Bandipore districts along the Line of Control (LoC) in North Kashmir.
The initiative, undertaken as part of the PM Vibrant Village Programme, aims to bridge the digital divide and connect isolated communities. Airtel has deployed 15 mobile towers in these regions, benefiting both the local population and Indian Army personnel stationed along the LoC.
By providing essential communication services, Airtel empowers soldiers to stay connected with their families and enhances operational coordination. The newly connected villages, including Kachhal, Balbir, Razdan Pass, Taya Top, Ustad, Kathi, and Cheema, are located in the Keran, Machhal, Tangdhar, Gurez, and Uri valley regions.
Airtel is the sole private telecom operator offering services in these remote areas. The company has a strong track record of collaborating with the Indian Army to improve network services in challenging terrains. Recent successes include establishing connectivity in the Galwan River region and Daulat Beg Oldie (DBO), India’s northernmost military outpost.
