Micromax-Phison JV ‘MiPhi’ to drive AI-powered NAND storage in India


Micromax Informatics, India’s homegrown consumer electronics brand, has partnered with Phison, a global leader in NAND storage technologies, to establish MiPhi, a strategic joint venture aimed at boosting India’s technology and AI ecosystem.

The collaboration aligns with India’s ‘Making AI in India’ vision, supporting the country’s ambition to become a global AI powerhouse. MiPhi aims to offer energy-efficient NAND storage solutions with the world’s lowest per-token cost for AI applications, enhancing GPU performance and technological efficiency.

Core Objectives of MiPhi

Local Partnerships: Combining Micromax’s established Indian market presence with Phison’s expertise in NAND storage technology to strengthen tech infrastructure and enable cross-industry collaborations.

Local Sales Network: Creating dedicated sales teams across India focused on embedded solutions for automobiles, IoT devices, datacentres, IT hubs, and consumer electronics. The company will provide tailored design solutions specifically for AI and security-related applications.

‘For India, in India’ Manufacturing: Operating from manufacturing sites in Hyderabad (Telangana), Bhiwadi (Rajasthan), and Noida (Uttar Pradesh), MiPhi aims to enhance India’s production capacity.

Combined Expertise: Micromax’s experience in consumer electronics and Phison’s leadership in NAND storage (powering one in five SSDs globally) mark a milestone in advancing India’s AI potential.

Focus Areas and Expansion Plans

MiPhi will deliver custom-designed NAND storage solutions for AI, enterprise, and automotive industries, addressing the growing tech needs in India and selected international markets.

Phison’s local manufacturing partnerships and in-house technology capabilities ensure comprehensive support, including local RMA services and efficient customer service.
