OnePlus is preparing to launch the OnePlus Watch 3, with recent leaks revealing new software features that could significantly enhance the smartwatch’s capabilities.
According to an APK teardown by Android Authority of the OHealth app (version 4.30.11_e27d199_241122), several exciting functionalities are expected to be introduced.
Key Features of the OnePlus Watch 3
- ECG Tracking: The OHealth app will feature ECG functionality, capable of detecting conditions such as Afib, frequent PVCs, and abnormal heart rates. A screenshot suggests that while your phone may need specific requirements to use this feature, it will also be accessible directly on the watch.
- Wrist Temperature Monitoring: The OnePlus Watch 3 will include wrist temperature tracking. To establish a baseline, users will need to wear the watch for at least five nights, with one of those sessions lasting a minimum of four hours.
- 60-Second Health Checkup: A new 60-second checkup will scan for heart health, blood vessel elasticity, and sleep snoring. It will use seven health indicators, such as blood oxygen levels, ECG measurements, and vascular age, to provide a comprehensive health snapshot.
- Health Insights and Journey: The companion app will introduce a “Health” tab featuring two new features: Health Insights, which displays long-term health trends, and Health Journey, which highlights important daily events like sleep, steps, and workouts.
These features are expected to debut exclusively on the OnePlus Watch 3 at launch, though some may eventually be made available to previous models like the OnePlus Watch 2.
Additional Specifications
Leaks suggest that the OnePlus Watch 3 will be powered by a Snapdragon W5 chip, coupled with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The smartwatch will also come with a larger-than-500mAh battery for extended use. Additionally, a rotary dial for system navigation is rumored, which could offer a new way to interact with the watch.
The OnePlus Watch 3 is expected to be released in early 2025, although it is unclear if it will launch alongside the OnePlus 13 series, which is set to debut on January 7, 2025. More details on the official launch are expected to emerge soon.
