LG unveils xDC Vehicle Platform powered by Qualcomm ahead of CES 2025

LG Electronics (LG) today announced its Cross Domain Controller (xDC) platform for vehicles, developed in partnership with Qualcomm Technologies. The launch precedes CES 2025, which will be held in Las Vegas from January 7 to January 10, 2025.

A Unified Solution for Modern Vehicles

The xDC platform is powered by Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Ride Flex System-on-Chip (SoC). It integrates LG’s In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) System and Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) into a single, centralized controller. This integration is designed to enhance vehicle performance and simplify system management, addressing the growing complexity of modern automobiles.

The Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC is pre-integrated with automated driving and computer vision capabilities. Its multifunctional design supports ADAS, automated driving, and an open platform for digital cockpit and IVI systems, ensuring a seamless and efficient driving experience.

Key Features and Benefits
  • Integrated System Efficiency: The xDC platform processes data from both IVI and ADAS systems simultaneously using a single SoC, enabling smoother and more efficient vehicle operations.
  • Enhanced Driving Assistance: The “ADAS confidence view” feature combines 3D and 2D graphics, providing drivers with real-time alerts, such as vehicle proximity warnings and lane departure notifications.
  • Customizable Information Display: The main vehicle display offers drivers and passengers critical information, including alternative routes, live traffic updates, and even promotional offers from nearby stores.
  • Cost Reduction: By consolidating multiple vehicle functions into one system, the xDC platform reduces component costs while maintaining high performance.
  • Safety Certification: The platform meets the rigorous Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL)-D standard, ensuring reliable support for critical in-vehicle functions.
Demonstration at CES 2025

LG and Qualcomm Technologies will present private demonstrations of the xDC platform at CES 2025. These showcases will highlight the platform’s ability to efficiently manage and control complex vehicle functions, positioning it as a key solution for the emerging era of software-defined vehicles.

Vision for Future Mobility

LG and Qualcomm Technologies are focused on advancing the In-Vehicle Infotainment and ADAS sectors by delivering innovative, high-performance solutions. This collaboration aims to meet the evolving needs of automakers and shape the future of mobility through competitive and tailored technologies.

Speaking about the xDC platform, Eun Seok-hyun, president of LG Vehicle Solution Company, said:

The xDC platform, powered by the advanced Snapdragon Ride Flex SoC, provides automakers with a versatile solution that streamlines complex vehicle systems while elevating the driving experience. This collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies establishes a new standard for innovation in the automotive industry, shaping the future of mobility.
