Lenovo has announced an expansion of its Legion Go handheld gaming device lineup, introducing three new models at the CES 2025. The additions include a Windows-based device, a SteamOS-powered version, and a prototype of a future high-performance model.
Lenovo Legion Go S (8″, 1): Windows-Based Handheld
The Lenovo Legion Go S (8″, 1) is a Windows-based handheld gaming device. It features an 8-inch WUXGA (1920 x 1200) 16:10 120Hz PureSight touch display. Users can configure the device with either the AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor (exclusive to the Lenovo Legion Go) or the AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor. It offers up to 32GB of 7500Mhz LPDDR5X RAM and is powered by a 3-cell 55.5Whr battery.
The device weighs 1.61lbs (730g) and includes Wi-Fi 6e support, two USB 4 ports, and a microSD card reader for connectivity with displays and other peripherals.
Lenovo Legion Go S—Powered by SteamOS (8″, 1): SteamOS Integration
The Lenovo Legion Go S (8″, 1) – Powered by SteamOS is presented as the first officially licensed handheld device powered by Valve’s SteamOS. This model shares the same hardware specifications as the standard Legion Go S but runs SteamOS, an operating system designed for gaming.
Key features of SteamOS integration include cloud save functionality, Remote Play for streaming games from a PC, and access to the Steam Store and Steam Library.
There is also the Legion Screen Protector designed to fit the Lenovo Legion Go S (8″, 1), featuring high-transparency 9H hardness glass that protects the display from scratches, scrapes, and drops while preserving the natural feel of the touch display at just 0.45mm thickness, according to the company.
Lenovo Legion Go (8.8″, 2) Prototype: A Preview of a Future Model
Lenovo has also revealed a prototype of the Lenovo Legion Go (8.8″, 2), a successor to the first-generation Legion Go. The prototype features an 8.8-inch 16:10 144Hz 500nit OLED PureSight touch display with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support.
The prototype is stated to include the new AMD Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor with RDNA 3.5 graphics, up to 32GB of 7500Mhz LPDDR5X RAM.
Design refinements include rounded Lenovo Legion TrueStrike controllers with a circular D-pad. The prototype also suggests up to 2TB of SSD storage and a 74Whr battery. This model is projected for release in 2025.
