Samsung is working on a new rugged smartphone called the Galaxy XCover7 Pro. This development was spotted and reported by Android Authority.
Following the launch of the Galaxy XCover7 in January 2024, the Galaxy XCover7 Pro will serve as its successor. Reports suggest that Samsung initially worked on an XCover8 Pro, but recent findings indicate that the company has shifted focus to the XCover7 Pro.
According to the report, reliable sources discovered code suggesting that Samsung is working on the Galaxy XCover7 Pro. The code indicates that the device will be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 (SM7635), a processor launched in August 2024.
While other details remain under wraps, the Galaxy XCover7 Pro is expected to retain its rugged characteristics. Like its predecessor, it will likely meet the MIL-STD-810H3 military standard and feature an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
The device is also expected to include Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ for enhanced protection. The display is likely to allow touch sensitivity adjustments, making it usable with gloves, and will include easy POGO pin charging for convenient recharging.
Launch date?
With the new processor in place, Samsung appears to be actively developing the device, possibly targeting a launch similar to the XCover6 Pro, which was released in June 2022.
However, whether the XCover7 Pro will only feature a processor upgrade or include other enhanced specifications remains uncertain until further leaks or an official announcement emerge in the coming months.
