Meta-owned Instagram announced on Sunday the launch of a new video editing app named Edits. The announcement comes after ByteDance’s video editing app, CapCut, was temporarily removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store as part of the TikTok ban, though services began restoring from 12 PM ET on Sunday.
Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, shared the news on Threads, stating that Edits will initially be available for iOS next month, with an Android version following shortly. “Today we’re announcing a new app called ‘Edits,’ for those of you who are passionate about making videos on your phone,” Mosseri wrote. He emphasized Instagram’s commitment to providing creators with the best tools despite ongoing challenges.
