Snapdragon 8 Elite gets a new 7-core version

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the company’s latest flagship SoC, back in October last year, and it powers the latest flagships. Now it has silently introduced an 8 Elite SoC 7-core CPU version, which has only 7 CPU cores instead of 8 cores in the original Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The original Snapdragon 8 Elite has 2 x Oryon Prime CPU at up to 4.32GHz, 6 x Oryon Performance CPUs at up to 3.53GHz. The 7-Core version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite has 2 x Oryon Prime CPU at up to 4.32GHz, but instead of 6 Performance cores, this has 5 x Oryon Performance CPUs at up to 3.53GHz.

Other specifications are similar, and the only change is the number of CPU cores. Since this is a new version, this gets a new port number – SM8750-3-AB instead of SM8750-AB.

Partners?

Partners for the new model have not been revealed yet, so we will have to wait for OEMs to reveal more details about the availability of the new version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and at what price point the phones powered by the chip will be available since phones powered by 8 Elite are costly compared to Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 models.
