Airtel becomes the first operator to launch tariff plans specifically for voice and SMS services without data, as per TRAI’s directive. TRAI mandated separate Special Tariff Vouchers (STVs) specifically for voice and SMS services to benefit specific user groups, including senior citizens and those residing in rural areas, by providing them with more tailored options.
Rs. 509 Rs. 499 plan
The Rs. 509 Rs. 499 plan offers unlimited local and roaming calls and 900 SMS with 84 days or 3 months of validity.
Rs. 1999 Rs. 1959 plan
The Rs. 1999 Rs. 1959 plan offers unlimited local and roaming calls and 3600 SMS with 365 days or 1 year of validity. The plan previously included 24GB of data at Rs. 1999, which now costs Rs. 2249 and offers 30GB additional data.
Post the SMS limit, Re. 1 for local and Rs. 1.5 STD per SMS will be charged, mentioned the company. Other benefits include Airtel Xstream App, Apollo 24|7 Circle membership, and free Hello Tunes.
These two plans are already available on Airtel Thanks app and on Airtel website for mobile recharges. Other operators are expected to launch similar plans soon.
Update: The Rs. Rs. 509 plan is now Rs. 499 plan and the Rs. 1999 plan has been changed to Rs. 1959
