Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 Ultra announced

Samsung has announced the Galaxy S25 series, featuring the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 at its Galaxy Unpacked event, as it had promised.

The new devices introduce multimodal AI agents and aim to deliver highly personalized and context-aware mobile experiences. The series is powered by a customized Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy chipset, designed to enhance on-device processing for Galaxy AI and improve camera capabilities.

Intuitive Interactions and Enhanced Productivity

The Galaxy S25 series, featuring One UI 7, integrates with Google’s vision for an AI-centric Android operating system. The multimodal AI agents can interpret text, speech, images, and videos. Upgrades to Google’s Circle to Search feature allow for one-tap actions on recognized phone numbers, emails, and URLs.

The devices also facilitate actionable searches with context-aware suggestions and seamless app switching for quick follow-up actions. Natural language understanding is improved, enabling intuitive interactions for tasks like finding photos or adjusting settings.

Galaxy AI tools for communication, productivity, and creativity have been expanded. Features like Call Transcript, Writing Assist, and Drawing Assist offer enhanced functionality and ease of use.

Now Brief & Now Bar proactively offers suggestions based on analyzed data, accessible on the lock screen.

All the Galaxy S25 series devices will come with 6 months of Gemini Advanced and 2TB of cloud storage at no extra cost, said Samsung.

Personalization and Privacy in the AI Era

Samsung emphasizes the importance of user privacy alongside personalization. The Personal Data Engine powers tailored AI features by analyzing user data on-device, ensuring privacy through Knox Vault security. The series also introduces post-quantum cryptography to safeguard against evolving security threats.

One UI 7 enhances device security with Maximum Restrictions settings, improved Theft Protection, and a new Knox Matrix dashboard for monitoring connected device security.

Performance and Camera Upgrades

The Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset provides a significant performance boost compared to the previous generation. This power enables more on-device AI processing, including tasks previously reliant on cloud computing.

The Galaxy S25 series features advanced image processing with ProScaler, and Samsung’s mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe) for improved display power efficiency. The devices also support enhanced gaming experiences with Vulkan Engine and improved Ray Tracing.

The company says that series features a 40% larger vapour chamber and a tailored thermal interface material (TIM) for extra improvement in thermal efficiency.

The camera system includes a new 50MP ultrawide camera sensor in the Galaxy S25 Ultra (upgraded from 12MP on the S24 Ultra), and 10-bit HDR recording is now standard. Low-light video performance is improved through enhanced movement and time analysis for noise reduction.

The series introduces advanced editing tools, including Audio Eraser, Virtual Aperture for depth-of-field control, Galaxy Log for color grading, and enhancements to Portrait Studio and Filters.

Design and Sustainability

The Galaxy S25 series features a refined design with a focus on durability and sustainability. The Galaxy S25 Ultra incorporates titanium and Corning Gorilla Armor 2, offering enhanced drop protection, scratch resistance, and anti-reflection properties. There is also Corning’s glass-ceramic with a proprietary anti-reflective surface treatment as well as advanced drop protection and scratch resistance.

The series incorporates recycled materials in its construction, including recycled armor aluminum and recycled cobalt in the battery. Samsung commits to seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the Galaxy S25 series, similar to older models.
