Samsung Galaxy S25 series offer Satellite SOS messaging on Verizon powered by Skylo

Samsung introduced the Galaxy S25 series of smartphones at its Galaxy Unpacked event earlier this week. This year, all the models are powered by Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy Mobile Platform globally.

Qualcomm already revealed that the Galaxy S25 series are the first commercial devices to feature Snapdragon Satellite, which allows consumers to send and receive messages via satellite (narrowband NTN) natively supported in Android OS.

Verizon said that it offers seamless connection to Satellite SOS messaging powered by Skylo on the Galaxy S25 series. Verizon started offering the feature recently, and earlier this month unlocked global satellite connectivity potential for more than a billion devices across a broad spectrum of categories and industry verticals.

Skylo mentions that its satellite network provides coverage in areas where traditional cellular networks are unavailable, ensuring customers can stay connected in remote or rugged locations. Verizon mentions that for the satellite connectivity to work, the phone must be outside with line of sight to satellite and might not work in parts of Alaska.

We can expect more carriers to enable satellite connectivity for their customers on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series in the future.
