Google updates Gemini App with Gemini 2.0 Flash and Imagen 3

Google on Thursday announced updates to the Gemini app, now featuring Gemini 2.0 Flash as its default model. This update follows the model’s initial reveal in December.

Gemini 2.0 Flash in the Gemini App

Google describes Gemini 2.0 Flash as a model that provides fast responses and enhanced performance across several key benchmarks. It’s designed to assist with daily tasks such as brainstorming, learning, and writing.

For Gemini Advanced Subscribers

Subscribers to Gemini Advanced continue to have access to a 1 million token context window, allowing uploads of up to 1,500 pages. They also get priority access to features like Deep Research and Gems.

Image Generation Upgrade

The app’s image generation capabilities have been upgraded with Imagen 3, which Google states offers richer details, better textures, and more precise adherence to user instructions, enhancing creative output.

Availability

Gemini 2.0 Flash is now available for all users on the Gemini web and mobile applications. The previous models, Gemini 1.5 Flash and 1.5 Pro, will continue to be supported for a few weeks, allowing users to conclude existing conversations.
