SHARP India acquires NEC India’s Display Business

SHARP Business Systems (India) has acquired the Display Business of NEC India, a move that significantly expands SHARP’s portfolio of visual solutions and strengthens its position in the Indian market. The acquisition aims to enhance SHARP’s offerings across various sectors, including retail, education, aviation, manufacturing, healthcare, and smart cities.

The integration of NEC’s display business provides SHARP with a wider range of products, including large format displays, video walls, projectors, direct-view LEDs, and cinema projectors.

This complements SHARP’s existing “Smart Business Solutions” vertical, which includes digital multifunctional printers, interactive white boards, and Dynabook laptops. The company says this expanded portfolio will enable it to better serve both B2B and niche markets with tailored solutions and comprehensive customer support.

SHARP emphasizes its commitment to industries requiring 24/7 operation, such as manufacturing, control centers, and airports. The acquisition is expected to broaden SHARP’s partner ecosystem and create new growth opportunities. The company also highlights the benefits for existing partners of both SHARP and NEC, who will now have access to a wider product range.

Looking ahead, SHARP plans to develop India-specific products focused on cost-effectiveness and energy efficiency, aligning with India’s environmental objectives.

The company aims to expand its reach into tier-2 and tier-3 cities, targeting sectors like e-commerce and healthcare, and supporting India’s smart city initiatives. SHARP has stated its goal of becoming one of the top five players in the Indian display solutions market by expanding its channel network and providing enhanced partner training.

The acquisition is presented by SHARP as a strategic move that not only strengthens its market position but also contributes to India’s Vision 2047, promoting digital transformation and sustainable growth. The company anticipates playing a leading role in the evolution of India’s visual solutions industry.

Regarding this, Osamu Narita, Managing Director of SHARP Business Systems (India) Private Limited, expressed:

Acquiring NEC Display Business in India propels us into an exciting era of innovation in India’s visual solutions market. Puneet Malhan, General Manager, Display Business, SHARP Business Systems (India) Private Limited, elaborated:
