Nothing Phone 3a series: Camera specs including periscope telephoto lens, up to 60x ultra zoom confirmed

Nothing has confirmed the camera specifications of the upcoming Nothing Phone (3a) series phone. It has also compared the phone with iPhone 16 Pro Max, and has also shared the camera samples.

The Nothing Phone (3a) series phone will feature three 50-megapixel cameras, including a main camera, a Sony periscope lens, and a front camera, plus an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens. The main camera has the largest full-well capacity of any comparable sensor, meaning it can capture a wider range of brightness, said the company.

In a side-by-side comparison of photos taken with the Nothing Phone (3a) and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the company said that the iPhone produced cooler images with a lot more blue in the white balance. The Nothing Phone (3a) has a nice dynamic range, says the company. The samples also reveal f/1.9 aperture for the main camera and f/2.5 aperture for the telephoto camera.

The reviewers also tested the Nothing Phone (3a)’s periscope lens, which allows for 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom, and 60x ultra zoom. The phone can shoot macro images and up to 6x, says the company.

The video also shows the phone’s video stabilization capabilities by shooting a 4K video at 30 frames per second while riding bikes.

Nothing says that the Phone (3a) is a significant upgrade from the Nothing Phone (2a) and that it can compete with the best camera systems on the market. Based on rumors, the (3a) is said to feature a 2x telephoto camera, and the (3a) Pro is the one shown in the video with a 3x periscope telephoto camera.

We should know more details in the coming weeks, before the phones go official on March 4th.
