Glance partners with Google Cloud to bring AI commerce to smartphone lock screens and TVs

Glance, consumer internet company, has announced its partnership with Google Cloud to integrate generative AI (gen AI) into millions of Glance-enabled smartphones worldwide. This collaboration allows Glance to incorporate Google’s AI models, enhancing user experiences on smartphone lock screens and ambient TV screens.

Glance: A Pioneer in AI-Powered Lock Screens

Founded in 2019, Glance was among the first to explore the potential of smartphone lock screens, offering AI-driven personalized content.

Currently, Glance operates on over 450 million Android smartphones worldwide, with an active user base of more than 300 million spanning India, Indonesia, Japan, the United States, and other regions.

The company highlighted that it is now developing the next evolution of its platform, aiming to transform lock screens into a central hub for digital experiences, integrating news, sports, games, entertainment, fashion, and shopping with gen AI.

Introduction of Glance AI

As part of this initiative, Glance is launching ‘Glance AI,’ a generative AI-powered platform designed for enhanced discovery experiences on smartphone lock screens and TV ambient screens.

Key Features of the Partnership
  1. Google AI Integration: Glance is leveraging Google’s Gemini intelligence and Imagen’s advanced image generation through Vertex AI. This integration brings next-generation immersive experiences to smartphones and connected TVs.
  2. Glance AI for Smartphones and Connected TVs: The collaboration has enabled Glance to develop an AI commerce platform. A key feature allows users to upload an image (selfie or gallery photo), which is analyzed to understand preferences. Users can then generate personalized AI images that place them in various contexts, transforming their lock screen wallpapers.
  3. AI Commerce on Lock Screens and TVs: This partnership introduces AI-driven commerce, merging content and shopping experiences. The company noted that users can visualize themselves in different outfits and make real-time purchase decisions directly from their lock screens. This initiative is set to impact the $30 trillion global commerce market.
