OPPO unveils enhanced AI Strategy at OPPO AI Tech Summit during MWC 2025

OPPO today announced its enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) strategy during the OPPO AI Tech Summit at MWC2025. The company said it is shifting from functional-level to system-level AI, requiring deeper integration and stronger security measures.

Google AI Integration

OPPO is enhancing Google AI experiences on its smartphones, with Google Gemini soon operating across native apps like Notes, Calendar, and Clock. These features will work alongside existing support for Gemini 1.5 Pro and Gemini 1.5 Flash on OPPO AI Phones, delivering improved performance and responsiveness.

The company added that OPPO and Google are collaborating to bring the latest Gemini 2.0 to OPPO phones soon.

User Security and Privacy

To protect user security and privacy, OPPO is implementing Private Computing Cloud (PCC) with Confidential Computing from Google Cloud. Starting this year, AI features like AI Recording Summary, AI Search, AI Studio, and AI Call Summary will integrate with PCC for enhanced data protection.

Matt Waldbusser, Managing Director for Global Solution and Consumer AI at Google Cloud, said,

We are excited to collaborate with OPPO to shape the future of mobile AI by bringing together Google technologies with OPPO’s exceptional hardware and software.

He added, “Through our extensive partnership spanning apps, AI models, and cloud solutions, we are unlocking immense potential to redefine the mobile AI experience.”

Focus Areas in AI Development

OPPO’s latest AI strategy centers on three core areas: AI Productivity, AI Creativity, and AI Imaging.

The company highlighted that these pillars aim to deliver practical features, making AI an essential part of daily life. Supporting this is a comprehensive AI research and development (R&D) strategy spanning the entire ecosystem—from chips and devices to the cloud.

OPPO is partnering with MediaTek to optimize chips for high-efficiency, real-time AI processing, ensuring powerful performance without sacrificing energy efficiency.

Partnerships and Technologies

Will Chen, Deputy General Manager of the Wireless Business Group at MediaTek, said,

The partnership between MediaTek and OPPO is set to unlock new opportunities in AI. From AI-enhanced photography to next-generation gaming experiences, from intelligent security solutions to seamless device connectivity, the possibilities are limitless.

On the device side, AI technologies like LoRA (Low-Rank Adaptation), Parallel Decoding Solution, and MoE (Mixture of Experts) are significantly boosting performance. OPPO has also developed a robust data security protection system that operates across devices and the cloud.

Monthly AI Updates and User Goals

OPPO will roll out an average of one AI update per month to keep features and experiences fresh. After surpassing its goal of reaching 50 million users last year, the company now targets nearly 100 million users by the end of 2025.

  • New features, such as AI Search and Google Gemini integration with OPPO apps, will soon arrive on the OPPO Find N5.
  • Additionally, AI Call Translator, which interprets calls in multiple languages in real-time, and AI VoiceScribe, offering multi-use voice summarization for calls, online learning, and meetings, will be introduced in a future update.
