Bengaluru-based Ultraviolette Automotive, backed by TVS Motor, yesterday unveiled two new electric vehicles—the Tesseract electric scooter and the Shockwave Enduro e-bike—at its Ultraviolette Fast Forward India 2025 event.
Ultraviolette Tesseract: A Futuristic Electric Scooter
The Tesseract marks Ultraviolette’s first electric scooter. The company highlighted its maxi-style design, inspired by attack helicopters, featuring a chunky apron, edgy side panels, and dual apron-mounted LED projector headlights with floating DRLs. Powered by a 15kW motor, it achieves a top speed of 125 kmph and accelerates from 0-60 kmph in 2.9 seconds.
It’s available in three variants with distinct battery and range specifications:
- Tesseract 3.5: 10kW motor, 3.5kWh battery, 162 km range (IDC).
- Tesseract 5: 15kW motor, 5kWh battery, 220 km range (IDC).
- Tesseract 6: 15kW motor, 6kWh battery, 261 km range (IDC).
The Tesseract 6 charges from 0-80% in under an hour with fast charging, likely for the base variant too. It comes with a 3-year or 75,000 km warranty (extendable to 8 years or 200,000 km) and an 8-year battery warranty. The scooter rolls on 14-inch wheels with radial tires and features dual disc brakes with dual-channel ABS—a segment-first.
Notable features include a 7-inch TFT display with customizable options, e-SIM connectivity, and full navigation. It offers 34 liters of underseat storage, expandable by 12 liters with optional panniers, plus a wireless charging dock in the apron. The company noted its 2-level traction control, 4-level dynamic regenerative braking, hill-hold, and park assist.
A standout is the dual dashcam and onboard radar system (front and rear), forming an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS)—another segment-first. This provides collision warnings, spatial awareness, blind-spot detection, and overtake alerts. Mirrors display lane-change and overtake assist signals, while a haptic handlebar vibrates to warn of collisions, overtakes, or blind spots.
Additional tech includes remote lockdown, crash alerts, daily ride stats, advanced ride analytics, movement/fall alerts, towing alerts, and an anti-collision warning system.
Ultraviolette Shockwave: A Rugged Enduro E-Bike
The Shockwave Enduro e-bike features a typical enduro design with raised fenders, a slim profile, rugged long-travel suspension, and dual-purpose tires.
Offered in a single-seat configuration (dual-seat optional), it’s powered by a mid-mounted motor delivering 14.5PS and 505Nm of torque at the wheel—comparable to the F77 but lighter. It reaches 120 kmph, accelerates from 0-60 kmph in 2.9 seconds, and offers a 165 km range.
The bike features a 37mm telescopic fork with 200mm wheel travel and a monoshock with 180mm travel. It rides on a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheel setup, with braking handled by a 270mm front and 220mm rear petal disc.
At 120 kg, its kerb weight stands out in its segment. Features include 4-level traction control, switchable ABS, a digital console with LTE e-SIM and Bluetooth smartphone pairing, and a 6-level regenerative braking system.
New Riding Gear
Ultraviolette also introduced upcoming riding gear. The Striker One gloves feature gesture control, letting riders interact with the vehicle’s instrument cluster via hand movements. The Star-suit System Project jacket offers 5-level adjustable heating or cooling based on weather conditions.
Future Plans
The company plans to launch 12 new products over the next three years, targeting annual sales of at least 1 lakh units within three to four years, said co-founder and CEO Narayan Subramaniam.
These will span five platforms: F Series (performance bikes like F77 Mach 2 and SuperStreet, priced above Rs. 3 lakh), S Series (scooters like Tesseract), L Series (light motorcycles like Shockwave), X Series, and B Series. The F, S, L, and X Series will each have three models, while the B Series will have two, likely crossovers or cruisers.
Co-founder and CTO Niraj Rajmohan noted, “We have very aggressive product expansion plans. It is ambitious,” adding that the sales target is conservative, and the company is confident of surpassing it.
Ultraviolette, previously focused on premium performance bikes for enthusiasts in India and Europe, aims to expand into urban commuter and lightweight segments starting early next year.
