HUAWEI today expanded its True Wireless Stereo (TWS) line-up with the FreeBuds 6, launched in China alongside the HUAWEI Pura X foldable smartphone.
The earphones feature a water-drop shape and semi-open design, developed using data from millions of human ears. The ear stem is 12% smaller, and each earphone weighs 9% less at 4.9 grams, while the charging case is 40.3 grams. HUAWEI highlights that non-slip earmuffs enhance fit and stability.
The FreeBuds 6 use a three-separation design, splitting the acoustic, control, and battery systems. This setup includes a 11mm four-magnet dynamic unit and a micro-flat tweeter, delivering sound up to 48 kHz for crisp highs and down to 14 Hz for deep bass, powered by Bass Turbo technology. HUAWEI describes it as the industry’s first semi-open dual-unit headset, ensuring clear treble, mid-range, and bass.
These earphones support 2.3 Mbps lossless audio transmission at 48 kHz / 24-bit, with HWA Lossless and Hi-Res Wireless certifications. Ultra-wideband real-time hearing optimization adjusts sound from 50 Hz to 2 kHz based on ear shape, wearing position, and volume.
Tuned with the Central Conservatory of Music’s chief team, they offer classical and balanced sound modes. It also supports head-tracking spatial audio, paired with the HUAWEI Music app’s spatial audio library, creating a live-event experience.
For calls, a bone conduction microphone and multi-channel noise reduction handle 95 dB of noise and 8m/s wind speeds, keeping voices clear in loud environments like parties or construction sites, while the semi-open light noise reduction minimizes background sounds in offices, cafes, or squares.
Battery life reaches 36 hours with the case, and a 5-minute USB-C charge provides 2.5 hours of playback. Smart charging, adapting to user habits, extends battery life by 37%, according to HUAWEI.
Other Features:
- Controls: Double-tap to play, pause, skip tracks, answer calls, or wake the voice assistant; triple-tap for previous/next songs; slide to adjust volume; hold to reject calls or switch noise modes.
