The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has announced the Nano Electronics Roadshow and Conference on the Semiconductor Ecosystem in India.
Organized by MeitY’s Nanotechnology Initiatives Division, the event is being held in collaboration with IISc Bengaluru, IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, and IIT Guwahati.
Objective and Significance
The event aims to bring together government officials, industry leaders, academia, startups, venture capitalists, and experts from strategic sectors to foster innovation and collaboration in the semiconductor industry, the press release said.
Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, will attend as the Chief Guest, along with Guests of Honour:
- Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY
- Dr. Shivkumar Kalyanaraman, CEO, Anusandhan National Research Foundation
- Utpal Shah, Senior VP, Strategy and Business Development, Tata Electronics

Speaking about the conference, Shri S. Krishnan said the Nano Electronics Roadshow is a “very critical part” of India’s journey toward semiconductor self-reliance. He noted that MeitY has established Nano Science Centres at six IITs and IISc Bengaluru to build long-term expertise in semiconductor technology.

The release emphasized that with India’s increasing focus on Atmanirbhar Bharat, this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to achieving self-reliance in electronics innovation and manufacturing. By encouraging collaboration between industry and academia, MeitY aims to build a thriving nanoelectronics ecosystem that promotes sustainable growth and technological advancements.
Event Details
The event is scheduled to take place on March 27, 2025, from 9:00 AM onwards at the National Science Seminar Complex, IISc Bengaluru.
Speaking about the conference, Shri S. Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY, said,
This event brings together deep-tech startups, industry leaders, and technology innovators under one roof. Nearly 50 technology demonstrations are being showcased, with participation from 25 deep-tech startups in the Nano Electronics space, 25 venture capital firms, and 25 industries. We expect this to be the first of many such initiatives that will drive India towards semiconductor self-sufficiency, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of a self-reliant India under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM).
