Qualcomm just announced the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, the company’s latest top-end SoC and the successor to last year’s 8s Gen 3, as expected.
Unlike the 8 Elite that uses custom Oryon cores, this still uses the same architecture as the 8 Gen 3 and the 8s Gen 3 and TSMC’s 4nm process tech, but with different combination.
This promises 31% better CPU performance, 49% faster GPU performance and 44% improvements in AI performance compared to the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3. Energy efficiency increased by 39% compared to the predecessor, said the company.
This uses new sliced GPU architecture and the full suite of Snapdragon Elite
Gaming features offering Hardware-Accelerated Ray Tracing with Global Illumination, Qualcomm Adaptive Performance Engine and Snapdragon Game Super Resolution 2.0.
It still has 18-bit Triple AI ISP and gets 4K Limitless Segmentation, recognizing and enhancing over 250 objects in real-time. Night Vision 2.0 captures detailed videos in low light in 4K at 30 FPS. NPU supports on-device multimodal and multilingual generative AI, and a variety of leading LLMs and LVMs.
