This April, Microsoft is celebrating its 50th anniversary, marking five decades since Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded the company in April 1975. To mark the occasion, Microsoft has announced several new enhancements for Copilot and Azure AI Foundry.
New Copilot Features and Enhancements April 2025
Microsoft’s everyday AI-companion, Copilot, has received several enhancements and new features like deep research, Copilot Actions that take actions on your behalf, Podcasts, and more are coming soon.
Enhanced Memory and Personalization
Copilot now remembers important details like your favorite food, the types of films you enjoy, and your nephew’s birthday and his interests from your interactions, creating richer user profiles and delivering tailored solutions. The company is also experimenting with Copilot Appearances that let you customise how your Copilot should look.
Copilot Actions
With the latest update, your Copilot companion can take action on your behalf with simple chat prompts. It can book dinner reservations, book event tickets, and do a lot more. This will work with most websites across the web, like 1-800-Flowers.com, Booking.com, Expedia, Kayak, OpenTable, Priceline, Tripadvisor, Skyscanner, Viator, and Vrbo.
Copilot Vision
Copilot Vision lets AI assistant see what’s on your screen or in your camera feed in real-time and offer solutions for your conversation. Microsoft introduced Vision in Copilot for the web late last year, and now they’re bringing it to mobile and Windows.
Copilot Podcasts
Copilot will soon be able to generate AI-powered podcasts that curate and deliver personalized audio content based on your interests. While listening, you can continue to talk and interact with Copilot to learn more and keep the conversations going.
Copilot Pages
With the Pages feature, you can transform AI-generated responses into editable and shareable pages. Pages lets you refine, iterate, and keep the conversation going whenever you need it.
Shopping
With Copilot Shopping, the AI-companion will do the research, build comparisons, and offer advice. It lets you know about price drops and sales too.
Deep Research and Search
Deep Research is a new feature for Copilot that lets you conduct complex, multi-step research tasks more efficiently. And, Copilot Search in Bing now cross-checks information across multiple sites to deliver detailed, comprehensive responses directly in Bing.
Azure AI Foundry updates:
Apart from Copilot, Azure AI Foundry, a unified platform for models, tools, and workflows to help developers and enterprises design, customize, and manage AI apps and agents, also received major updates.
- AI Red Teaming Agent (public preview): Using natural language, this agent systematically probes AI models to uncover safety vulnerabilities, helping developer teams create more robust and trustworthy AI systems.
- Semantic Kernel agent framework (General availability): This extension of Azure AI Foundry’s open-source kit, Semantic Kernel, simplifies building multi-agent systems by reducing the code developers need to write and enabling better coordination among multiple agents.
- Agentic evaluations (Public preview): A feature that provides comprehensive risk and quality assessments, empowering teams to build trustworthy, compliant, advanced AI agents by helping them systematically identify and mitigate potential risks in agent behavior.
