moto tag with Google Find My Device network launched in India

motorola has introduced the moto tag, a lightweight, wireless, and waterproof tracking device in India, designed to help users locate belongings effortlessly.

The device integrates with Google’s Find My Device network, enabling global item tracking, the company said. Equipped with Bluetooth v5.4, Ultra Wideband (UWB), and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), the moto tag is compatible with Android devices running version 9.0 or higher and any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone or tablet.

It prioritizes privacy through end-to-end encryption, ensuring only the owner can access the device’s location via the Find My Device app. The Bluetooth signal reaches up to 100 meters, motorola noted, with the tracking process remaining anonymous and secure.

The moto tag offers the following key features:

  • Item Tracking: Attach the device to items like keys, purses, luggage, or bikes to locate them on a map using Bluetooth.
  • Precision Finding: This feature guides users to the moto tag’s exact location, even offline, acting like a digital compass.
  • Single-Tap Pairing: The device connects to compatible Android devices with one tap, motorola explained.
  • Phone Locator: Pressing the dedicated button triggers a ring on a misplaced phone for quick retrieval.
  • Remote Camera Control: The button doubles as a remote shutter for capturing photos, particularly with motorola’s razr family in Flex View mode.
  • Unwanted Tracking Alerts: The device notifies users if an unknown moto tag is detected nearby, enhancing security.

motorola added that the moto tag supports third-party accessories from various brands. Weighing 7.5 grams, it features a plastic body and an IP67 rating, making it resistant to dust, sweat, splashes, and submersion in up to 1 meter of fresh water for 30 minutes. The device uses a replaceable CR2032 battery (sold separately), offering up to one year of battery life with typical use.
