The Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are slated for an upcoming launch in India, as confirmed by recent announcements. This expansion will see the wearable technology, developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, become available in the Indian market, alongside Mexico and the United Arab Emirates. The exact launch date and pricing for India are yet to be revealed.
The smart glasses, an evolution of the earlier Ray-Ban Stories, integrate Meta AI and a range of functionalities designed to offer a hands-free connected experience. Users can interact with the glasses through voice commands, utilizing the integrated Meta AI for various tasks.
Key features highlighted include the ability to get information on the fly, control music and podcasts, and capture photos and videos from a first-person perspective. The glasses feature built-in speakers for audio playback and microphones for calls and voice commands.
AI Updates
New software updates are also set to enhance the capabilities of the Ray-Ban Meta glasses. A live translation feature, previously in early access in select regions, is now rolling out more broadly, enabling seamless conversations across supported languages without requiring a Wi-Fi connection if language packs are downloaded.
Furthermore, the glasses will soon support sending and receiving direct messages, photos, and audio and video calls directly from Instagram, in addition to existing support for WhatsApp, Messenger, and native phone messaging.
Access to music streaming apps such as Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Shazam is also being expanded beyond the US and Canada, allowing users in more regions, with English set as their default language, to control their music and get information about what they are listening to via Meta AI.
An upcoming feature for general availability in the US and Canada will enable a more natural conversation with Meta AI, where the assistant can continuously process visual information from the glasses to provide contextually relevant assistance. This “see what you see” functionality is also being rolled out in more EU countries, building on its recent introduction in the UK.
New Styles
Among the available styles, the Skyler frame is highlighted with new and expanded color and lens combinations. These include the Skyler Shiny Chalky Gray paired with Transitions® Sapphire lenses, offering a cat-eye shape in a neutral tone with adaptive lenses suitable for varying light conditions. For those preferring a classic look, the Skyler frame is also available in Shiny Black with traditional G15 Green lenses or with Clear lenses.
The launch in India is part of Meta’s broader effort to bring the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to a wider global audience, offering a blend of iconic style and integrated artificial intelligence.
