The event marked the nationwide roll-out of the Take-Back recycling program in over 15 cities in India.
Nokia will plant a tree for every phone dropped in the Recycle bins spread accross the country
Making Eco-Friendly products and controlling the carbon footprint of phones seems to be one of the goals of the company

This program was launched in Jan this year at Nokia Concept stores and Priority Dealers.
and interesting numbers were revealed
68000 devices and accessories had been collected
Of which 10,000 were phones of various brands
It amounted to over 3 tonnes of waste
And these stats are just after 45 days of the campaign.
Here is the kiosk with the handset recycle bin which will be put up in Nokia Stores across India.

It lets you make a donation to ClimateCare to compensate for the carbon footprint due to your air travel.
You can also SMS Green to 55555 to get location of the nearest recycle bin or mobile waste collection point
And remember to turn off your plug point when your not charging the phone.
