Quick on the heels of the announcement regarding offline support for Google Maps on Android , the company has revealed that Maps and Google Earth on Android and iOS will be getting enhanced 3D support. A new process is being used to achieve greater 3D depth.
Specific regions like San Francisco will be getting extended 3D support including individually modelled maps which would include every building right down to the trees. The updated app will be available for iOS and Android in the coming weeks. Apple is widely rumored to ditch Google and bring onboard its own 3D mapping solution following its acquisition of C3.
