Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 to power Windows Phone 8 devices

Qualcomm has officially announced that the upcoming Windows Phone 8 devices would be powered by their Snapdragon S4 processors. Microsoft announced the Windows Phone 8 yesterday and have partnered with Nokia, Samsung, HTC and Huawei to bring Windows Phone 8-enabled devices starting later this year. The Windows Phone 7 devices came with Snapdragon S1 or S2 processors.

These devices would feature MSM8960 dual-core Krait (Snapdragon S4 Plus) processor with Adreno 225 GPU. It has integrated multi-mode 3G/LTE modem and supports dual-channel LP DDR memory. It also consumers less power and would offer 720p HD resolution support,DirectX 3D games, 1080p video capture and better hardware-based security.
