Alec Saunders, VP Developer Relations at RIM, recently unveiled at the BlackBerry Dev Jam event in Beijing that the company has managed to clock over 3 billion app downloads across the Playbook and other BlackBerry devices.
The numbers are pretty impressive as it has taken just 176 days to reach that last billion compared to 210 for the 2nd and 786 for the 1st billion. Its worth noting that these numbers do not include apps downloaded from third party BlackBerry app stores, or those pushed internally at companies around the world, or those downloaded directly from the web. 2.5 million app downloads a days is pretty significant and shows how the BlackBerry platform is still relevant in several parts of the world.
