Samsung has announced that they have started producing ultra-fast embedded memory for smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices in 16, 32 and 64-gigabyte (GB) densities. Samsung Embedded Multimedia Card (eMMC) Pro Class 1500 delivers up to 140 MB/s (megabytes per second) sequential reading speeds and up to 50 MB/s sequential writing speeds. It is much faster than the SanDisk iNAND Ultra embedded memory announced earlier this year.
It would improve system performance and the user experience in web browsing, 3D and HD video capture and playback, multi-tasking, augmented reality. It is just 1.2 millimeters thick, weighs 0.6 grams and comes in highly compact JEDEC e.MMC-compliant packages to fit thinner mobile devices. Hope we can expect these flash memory chips on upcoming Samsung smartphones and tablets later this year.
