Heading to the beach and looking for a way to not only protect but also use your phone without it getting wet ? Read on for our review of the Krusell Sealabox which is a neat solution for those looking for a way to offer basic waterproofing to their phones on a budget.
The Krusell Sealabox comes with an IPX 7 rating. What this means that the case should be able to withstand limited immersion. Krusell doesn’t really recommend using the Sealabox for under water usage. The case is meant more as protection against rainfall or accidental drops on a beach.
The construction of the case is simple. Two transparent silicon panels lined with plastic on the side engulf the phone. Plastic tabs then slide into place to seal the case and prevent water from entering in.
We couldn’t really test out the Krusell case on a beach due to the lack of one but decided to use our phone as a test subject and dunk it in a bowl of water.
The Sealabox does its job well and our phone survived. The plastic tabs ensure a tight seal and don’t allow even a drop of water to enter the case. The case material itself repels water to some extent.
So you want to turn your phone into an impromptu underwater cam ? While proper waterproof bodies for cameras can cost several thousands, the Sealabox can do a pretty decent job for cheap. Having dunked the camera in a bowl of water we proceeded to take a photograph from a still wet case. The results were quite passable.

The Sealabox has been designed to fit pretty much any device out there. So if you have a supersized phone that you would like to take to a place where there is a risk of water damage, you should definitely pick up a Krusell Sealabox.
