Sony Mobile has started rolling out new Android 4.0.4 (Firmware version 6.1.1.B.1.54) update for Xperia P, Xperia U, Xperia Sola and Xperia Go. This update brings bug fixes and performance improvements including improvements to stability,WiFi, tethering/portable hotspot, camera (capture and playback), NFC and Messaging. Sony rolled out ICS update for Xperia P starting from August and for the Xperia U, Xperia Sola and Xperia G starting from September earlier this year.
Sony Xperia P users would get the Over the Air (OTA) update or can update via PC Companion on Windows/ Bridge for Mac depending on the regions and carriers.
Users with Sony Xperia U, Xperia Sola and Xperia Go already on ICS would get a notification for the Over the Air (OTA) update. Others still on Android 2.3 can update via PC Companion on Windows/ Bridge for Mac.
The new update would be rolled out over the next few weeks and the availability might vary across different carriers and countries. Sony confirmed the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) update for range of 2012 Xperia devices recently that is scheduled for Q1 2013.
