Nokia Q4 2012 results out $585 million profit, 4.4 million Lumia handsets sold

Nokia just announced its financial results for the 4th quarter of 2012. The Finnish smartphone manufacturer  has raked in profits equivalent to $585 million over the course of the last three months of 2012. The company has had losses of $3 billion over 2012.

The company’s Nokia Siemens Infrastructure business has brought in operating profits of $334 million while the devices business added $367 million as operating profit. The company has shipped 4.4 million Lumia handsets and 2.2 million Symbian phones. The company announced that the PureView 808 is to be the last Symbian based phone from the struggling manufacturer. The ASP has increased from EUR 160 to EUR 192 over the past quarter suggesting which shows a positive trend towards users shifting from cheaper WP7 Lumia handsets to higher priced Windows Phone 8 smartphones. The company starts the year on a clean slate with cash reserves up to $5.8 billion from the $4.6 billion seen in the past quarter. To further bolster cash reserves, the company will not grant a dividend to shareholders for the first time in 143 years.
