Facebook has been rumored to be working on a hardware element for its mobile strategy for years now and its intentions are expected to be revealed at an Android centric event to be held on 4th of April. The popular social network has worked with smartphone manufacturer, HTC, in the past on Android hardware and is expected to announce another partnership at the event.
Ahead of the event, @evleaks has revealed what is believed to be the HTC First or Myst as it was previously known. The phone will run a custom launcher layer on top called Facebook Home that should help bring the Facebook experience right to your homescreen. The social network has been working on its mobile strategy via applications like Facebook Messenger that can now totally replace even the SMS app on an Android phone. The move could have big implications for Facebook which has close to 400 million active mobile based users. The specifications of the phone are expected to be fairly mid range. The phone is likely to be powered by a dual core processor paired with 1GB of RAM. The 4.3″ 720p display will have a 1.6MP camera above it. A 5MP camera will be provided for basic photography. Connectivity wise the Android 4.2.2 running phone will have LTE as well as the usual gamut of Bluetooth 4.0, Wifi b/g/n capabilities. Expect more details about the phone after the Facebook event on 4th April.
