One of the researchers at Stanford University might makes our lives easier . They have found a way to use silicon nanowires to significantly boost the power of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries which are commonly used in mobile phones.
The latest innovation is as a result of the battery developed through research led by Yi Cui, assistant professor of materials science and engineering, produces 10 times the amount of electricity of existing lithium-ion, known as Li-ion, batteries.
Yi Cui has published his findings under “High-performance lithium battery anodes using silicon nanowires “
This might mean that mobile phones and laptops in future will have running times of over 20 hours .
This invention is still patent pending, if patented could change the way we deal with charging our devices.
