Lava has announced the Jelly Bean update for their Android smartphone, the Iris 501 (also known as Iris N501). It was launched earlier this year for Rs. 9,999, now the phone is available for Rs. 7,999. The Iris 501 runs on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich), and company launched the Iris 502 recently for Rs. 8,499 that runs on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) out of the box, which is now available for Rs. 7,499. The company usually announces a new phone every Friday in their promotion Blockbuster Phoneday.

This is definitely a great news for the Iris 501 users. Indian smartphone companies such as Micromax and Salora recently rolled out the Jelly Bean update for their smartphone recently.

It has a 5-inch (480 × 800 pixels) display, has dual SIM support and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core MediaTek processor. It has a 5MP auto focus camera with LED Flash, 0.3MP front-facing camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal memory, expandable memory up to 32GB with microSD and packs a 2300 mAh battery.

Current Lava Iris 501 users can get their devices upgraded to the Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) at any of Lava’s service centre across India free of cost.
