Asus and Intel jointly announced their new device, the FonePad at Mobile World Congress. The device is finally going to launch in India on 24th April. Serving as an interesting hybrid between phones and tablets, it sports a 7 inch screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The operating system of choice is Android 4.1 ie Jelly Bean.
Internally, the Asus FonePad is powered by a 1.2 Ghz Intel Atom Z2420 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The FonePad is available in 8 and 16GB configurations with support for expandable storage over microSD. Connectivity options include 3G HSPA with voice calling, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0. Of course the FonePad also supports GPS.
The battery pack is rated at 4,270 mAh and can deliver up to 9.8 hours of video playback. Users also get a 3MP rear camera capable of recording video in up to 720p.
